No matter what gender you belong to, to have glass like shinning and glowing skin is a longing of almost everybody. But to achieve this, a proper skincare routine is required. And to maintain a healthy skin, you need to be consistent and disciplined with good habits.
It is not a matter of a day or two. You have to unfailingly follow a lifestyle with all the healthy habits you adopt.
Here we will share some tips which a lot of people especially men tend to ignore but following those with consistency will not only make your skin shine but also bring a positive outcome on your overall personality, which you definitely want if you want to stand out when it comes to appearance.
Get enough sleep
“Beauty sleep” is not merely a term; it is something that actually exists does wonders if followed. Our skin goes through a lot in our waking hours like extreme weather conditions, pollution, chemical infused products, stress and many more which tends to damage it.
When we sleep, blood flow towards skin increases and not only skin, but our whole body starts repairing and healing itself, which contributes towards our overall health as well.
While poor sleep for a longer period can cause under eye circles, wrinkles, puffy eyes and pale skin and eventually ages your skin faster.
So, all men (and ladies too) out there, we know your work is important and you have now developed a habit to scrolling down your Instagram feed, or may be that television show is worth binging on but sound sleep without any noise or interruption for at least eight hours is a must if you want glowing skin and a healthy body.
Avoid using too many products
Sometimes in order to achieve good skin, we think of using everything that (looks) appealing to us.
In fact there are many people who either do nothing to take care of their skin or when their skin visibly calls for some deliberation, they start taking drastic steps. And then they start using one product after the other on our skin, it reverses the process of healing and makes skin even worse.
It is not necessitous at all to have a 10 to 15 step skin care routine. It just looks and feels all fancy but your skin may not need it. Proper CLEANSING, MOISTURISING and using sunscreen are mostly all you need. In case you think your skin needs more help, always take guidance and then use a product.
Always remember “Less is more”
Don’t touch your face
We may always feel like scratching our face a little bit here and there, or a most commonly practised subconscious habit, we put our face in our hands while listening to someone. Or just to rub our hand on face like we are checking if everything is there. But that’s the worst you can do to your skin.
Our hands in most cases are not clean throughout the day, and unnecessarily touching our face is a mode of transmitting all those germs and dirt to the face which then causes acne, infections and a lot more. So, always remember. Keep unclean hands away from your face.
Don’t worry, you face is doing fine without your constant assurance of its presence.
Change your pillow case regularly
One of the most essential considerations which a lot of people tend to overlook is sleeping on dirty or rough bed sheets and pillow cases. Especially when you sleep upside down and your face is directly in contact with pillow case or bed sheet.
Dirty sheets contain a lot of bacteria and germs on them. These bacteria can not only cause acne and zits but dirt can accumulate on your skin clogging your pores and causing infections and breakouts. Also if the sheets are rough, it will cause friction while moving which may cause abrasion on skin.
Try cleaning your pillow cases and bed sheets regularly and if possible, have satin or silk pillow cases where surface is much softer and chances of bacteria retention are much less.
Always wear sunscreen in every weather
This factor can never be snubbed. UV rays coming from sun can do enough harm to your skin than you can imagine. It damages your skin collagen which holds your skin.
It can cause skin thinning. Uneven skin tone, pigmented patches are also some of the adverse effects. So, to avoid this, make sure you use sunscreen with at least 50 SPF.
Cold weather is not something that should make you stop using sunscreen. Make sure you have sunscreen on the exposed parts of your body even in winters to protect your skin from sun damage and avoid the above mentioned and many other skin problem.
Stop over exfoliating
Cleaning is important for your face but over exfoliation will do more harm to your skin than good. It can cause rashes, abrasions, redness, inflammation, irritated skin which in turn makes it way more sensitive and your skin may start sagging. Dry, dehydrated skin is another disadvantage of over scrubbing your face.
Know your skin type, sometimes only cleaning with a mild cleanser is enough especially if you have dry and sensitive skin. In case you think your skin need exfoliation, make sure use a mild one which contains smaller and less tough granules, preferably prescribed by a dermatologist and use that once or maximum twice a week.
Sleeping without cleaning your face
One of the best things you can do to your face is cleaning it before going to bed. As mentioned earlier, your skin goes through a lot during daytime and also the products you use on your face if not cleansed properly, all the dirt and harmful chemicals get a chance to penetrate deeper into your skin, which can enlarge your pores, cause infections and dehydrate your skin.
Make sure you wash your face with a mild cleanser according to your skin type. So you could get up in the morning with clean, recovered and healed skin.
Physical movement, clean eating and hydration are a must.
That’s not something that anybody has mentioned for the first time. Not only to make your skin glow, if you are looking to improve your health overall; hydration is vital. One more important thing that you can do for the goodness of your skin and health is, move your body.
If you are eating well and properly hydrating yourself and not having enough physical movement, then you must. A healthy body needs everything in moderation. Stuffing your body with food no matter how good, and not digesting it properly and absorbing all nutrients by moving yourself may not be doing any good for your health.
Consistency is the key
Not only in skincare, you need to be consistent with every routine you follow in life if you want your desired results. To heal your skin naturally, with care and right products, you should give it time. Following a regime for just a week or two won’t do any wonders. Be consistent and have patience.
